Facing the current irreversible AI trend, the requirement for Vietnam’s artificial intelligence industry is to speed up seizing opportunities from the AI wave to create breakthroughs in the national digital transformation process. Breakthrough in production capacity, improve national competitiveness, and promote sustainable economic development.

The development of Artificial Intelligence in Vietnam

Artificial intelligence is now a core technology appearing in almost every industry and reshaping the way we live and work. There is high potential to unlock the value of data and help people do more work faster and smarter. Among the above advantages, AI plays a key role in promoting the development of the digital economy in Vietnam.

Vietnam is recognized as a country where many people come into contact with and participate in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) quite early, thanks to which people’s awareness of artificial intelligence is very high. In particular, with the rapid development of technology today, artificial intelligence is more easily accessible.

The report “Government AI Readiness Index 2022” conducted by Oxford Insights shows that Vietnam ranked 55th globally and ranked 6th/10th in the ASEAN region (up 7 places compared to 2021). Vietnam’s average score reaches 53.96 (51.82 in 2021), surpassing the world average (44.61).

AI technology will impact Vietnam’s digital economic growth in the future

AI is considered the heart and brain of the 4th industrial revolution, AI will also be the center of the digital economy. In particular, with GenAI (Generative AI), the world is at a turning point in the digital era. GenAI democratizes the use of AI, empowering every workforce, enabling innovation and new business opportunities for the public and private sectors. It can be said that GenAI is a “game changer” that has a great impact on the economy and society, boosting productivity and output by over 18%.

The competitiveness of each country’s digital economy depends on per capita computing power and vice versa, computing power infrastructure has also become the new engine of each digital economy. It is predicted that AI can increase computing power 500 times. Therefore, more than 50 countries have included the goal of promoting cooperation and innovation, developing policies and standards on AI into their national digital transformation strategies.

In Vietnam, there are currently no specific numbers, but for China, it is estimated that AI technology will affect about 22% of the country’s GDP and 15-20% of the GDP of countries in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC). ). This is a large number that AI technology can impact on the economy.

Not only people and businesses, AI needs to be applied to the management activities of the state civil servant apparatus

In the government sector, there are many regulations and procedures that must be followed. It is very difficult for a state civil servant to master all of them. Instead of having to read all the documents, they can use AI virtual assistants to assist. Remember, AI technology will be very effective when supporting units that have contact with many customers.

If state agencies are considered businesses and consider citizens as customers, it is clear that this is the organization with the most customers in Vietnam. Therefore, integrating artificial intelligence technology into the operational management of the civil servant system and supporting the Government’s operating processes will bring great efficiency.
